Delorio Foods Inc. is Hiring a Production Supervisor Near Utica, NY

Job description

Assist Production Manager to ensure that production operates efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Also, responsible to assist in ensuring OSHA compliance, HACCP/HARPC/SQF follow through and GMP compliance throughout the production process.

Performance Accountabilities:

Assist Production Manager To:

  • Ensure employees scheduled to work in the production department are following the standard operation procedures set for each product.
  • Ensure that all work is being performed in the most efficient manner possible while maintaining product quality and safe work environment.
  • Ensure that all production employees are performing task within standards of all regulatory agencies and written programs.
  • Accomplishes operations by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Daily Inspections and Check Lists

  • Inspect daily the product and process to ensure that all quality, food safety, OSHA regulations, and GMP standards are followed.
  • Ensure the working forepersons and operators are completing all necessary check list and documentation.
  • Complete daily inspections to ensure all set ups are completed for the next day’s production and ensure that all set up check lists are completed.
  • Maintain working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

OSHA Compliance

  • Have a thorough knowledge of all OSHA and Company safety regulations pertaining to working in a production process and equipment operation.
  • Ensure that all employees are working within OSHA and Company safety regulations. Ensure that all employees assigned to the production department are aware of and understand completely these regulations.

HACCP/HARPC Follow Through

  • Must have complete knowledge of the HACCP/HARPC/SQF plan and all prerequisite programs.
  • Ensure that all programs related to the production processes are being followed as outlined in the HACCP/HARPC/SQF plan.

Departmental Communication

  • Communicate daily with the production manager, supervisors and working forepersons to discuss any production issues that may arise.
  • Provide reports to the production manager for production happenings during his absence.
  • Participate in daily production meetings with the production manager, supervisors and line personnel.

Inventory Control

  • Assist the production manager in ensuring raw materials inventories are sufficient for the anticipated production.
  • Assist in conducting period ending physical inventories at the completion of every four-week period as scheduled.

Employee Training Under the Direction of the Production Manager

  • As required retrain and train existing and new employees to perform new duties.
  • Ensure that all employees are properly trained to perform the job functions requested of them.
  • Ensure that they completely know and understand the proper standard operating procedures of all equipment before operating
  • Maintain training check list and notes for any employee training.
  • Bring any training need to the attention of the production manager so retraining can be scheduled.
  • If an employee performs his job unsafely address immediately with the production manager to have him/her removed from the job until retraining can be completed.

Skills / Requirements

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations or be willing to complete OSHA training course.
  • Good communication skill, written and oral
  • Organizational skills
  • Computer literate, experience with micro soft excel and word.
  • Must be able to work effectively as a team with other managers and directors to ensure all company standards, goals, and deadlines are met or exceeded.
  • Must be able to operate and trouble shoot all production equipment
  • Must have management skills

Education / Training

  • 2 yr. Degree – Production Management or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Training in HACCP/HARPC programs and OSHA regulations or be willing to complete necessary training for each.

Skills/ Requirements:

  • Knows and understands the contents of the Food Safety Policy Statement
  • Knows that there is a Food Safety Manual including an HACCP plan and knows that there are critical control points and, if applicable, know how to apply control measures
  • Knows that policies exist with reference to production-related record keeping
  • Knows that policies exist regarding Incident Management and Recall and Food Security/Premises Security/Sabotage, and participate in establishing the same when appropriate
  • Understand policies/standard operating procedures with respect to personnel practices regarding control of physical contaminants, cleaning and sanitation, waste management, and acts accordingly
  • Knows that there are standard operating procedures for calibration of equipment, premises and equipment maintenance
  • Understands our policies regarding product identification and labeling rules, as well as product traceability and act accordingly when necessary
  • Understands that they are responsible to report any food safety or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
  • Process improvement

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
